legit grain-to-glass...

Whilst the craft spirits industry is growing in Australia, the number of small distilleries in production using raw ingredients and making the spirit, start to finish, is still limited.

At Crooked Tune, we use the finest grains in the country to produce some of the most unique hand crafted spirits available.

whisky vs whiskey

Although the flavour profiles differ vastly, the key difference between “whisky” and “whiskey” is cultural. Both versions have rich and colourful histories. However, single malt whisky has come to occupy a slightly different space in the dram drinkers psyche, eliciting thoughts of a slightly more upscale, refined, and, dare I say, subdued experience.

American whiskey, on the other hand, is essentially barrel aged moonshine. Every sip comes complete with a plethora of historical tales, folklore and rambling tunes about common folk and outlaws (and everything in between). It’s Americana in a bottle!

crafted in homemade copper pot stills

Owner and founder Aaron (born and raised in Kansas, USA) is a master tinkerer with a commitment to authenticity. His goal is to follow traditional spirit production as closely as possible, whilst always remembering that innovation is the common theme in the American liquor story. As such, he opted to design and build the distillery’s 2 copper pot stills himself. They are custom made to fit the small stillhouse space. It’s this “make it work” attitude that has defined generations of moonshiners in the mountain hollers and city cellars of America for centuries.
